Hi eveyone!
Voice
A fan is bought by Tom.
S + v.to be + v.3 จำไว้นะคะว่า verb to be ต้องเปลี่ยนร่างตาม Tense และต้องล้อไปกับประธานด้วย!
Present Simple: He buys a fan. A fan is bought by him.
Past Simple: He bought a fan. A fan was bought by him.
Future Simple: He will buy a fan. A fan will be bought by him.
Present Continuous: He is buying a fan. A fan is being bought by him.
Past Continuous: He was buying a fan. A fan was being bought by him.
Present Perfect: He has bought a fan. A fan has been bought by him.
Past Perfect: He had bought a fan. A fan had been bought by him.
Future Perfect: He will have bought a fan. A fan will have been bought by him.
Passive?
These laptops are made in Japan.
The house was painted last year.
The files were deleted by accident.
(Agent): The experiment was carried out by Mr. John.
The smartphone has been damaged.
He gave me the book. I was given the book.
กริยาพิเศษ: คำว่า Let ใน Passive จะเปลี่ยนเป็น be allowed to เสมอ เช่น I am allowed to use the printer.
By vs With: ใช้ By กับ “คนทำ” (Agent) แต่ใช้ With กับ “อุปกรณ์หรือวัตถุดิบ” เช่น:
The sculpture was made by an artist.
It was made with clay.
การละ Agent: ถ้าคนทำเป็น He, She, Someone, People เราตัดทิ้งได้เลยค่ะ แต่ถ้าเป็นชื่อเฉพาะอย่าง Mr. Ben ห้ามตัดนะคะ!
Passive Gerund and Infinitive
Passive:
Active: He doesn’t like it when his parents tell him what to do.
Passive: He doesn’t like being told what to do by his parents. He doesn’t like being told what to do.
Active: I dislike people criticizing me.
Passive: I dislike being criticized.
Active: I hate someone interrupting my concentration.
Passive: I hate my concentration being interrupted.
เราใช้ Passive Present Gerund ตอนไหน
เราจะใช้ Passive Present Gerund หลังคำกริยาเฉพาะ เช่น like, love, hate, dislike, enjoy, prefer, deny, risk, avoid, admit, consider, suggest, look forward to ฯลฯ
Active: The writer felt relieved after the editor had approved the article for publication.
Passive: The article having been approved for the publication, the writer felt relieved.
Active: The team felt discouraged because the opponent had easily defeated them.
Passive: The team felt discouraged by having been defeated easily.
Active: The soldier was charged with the authorities having given him an illegal order.
Passive: The soldier was charged with having been given an illegal order.
เราใช้ Passive Perfect Gerund ตอนไหน
1. เราจะใช้ Passive Perfect Gerund หลังคำกริยาเฉพาะ เช่น like, love, hate, dislike, enjoy, prefer, deny, risk, avoid, admit, consider, suggest, look forward to ฯลฯ
Prepositions
They had organised an event (action 1), so they felt proud after the event occurred (action 2). The event having been organized so efficiently, they were proud of their success.
2. Passive Infinitive (การถูกทำในรูป to…)
1. Passive Present Infinitive ใช้ตอนที่พูดถึงปัจจุบันหรืออนาคต โครงสร้างคือ to be + past participle
Active: They are going to install the new software next week.
Passive: The new software is going to be installed next week.
2. Passive Perfect Infinitive ใช้เมื่อพูดถึงเหตุการณ์ในอดีต โครงสร้างคือ to have been + past participle
Active: He was disappointed because they hadn’t invited him to the party.
Passive: He was disappointed not to have been invited to the party.
เราใช้ Passive Infinitive ตอนไหน
I’m happy to be invited. I’m glad to be informed on time.
They are happy to have been selected to the semi-finals.
2. ใช้หลังคำกริยาเฉพาะ เช่น agree, appear, decide, expect, plan, hope, refuse, seem, ought to, have to ฯลฯ เช่น
The project is expected to be completed next week.
3. ใช้หลัง Modal verbs เช่น must, shall, should, can, could, will, would, may, might ฯลฯ
Bare passive infinitive (without to) เช่น
The dinner should be prepared by the time we arrived.
The documents should have been signed before the meeting.
Tip สำหรับ C2: เรามักใช้โครงสร้าง “It is + v.3 + that” สำหรับข่าวลือหรือความเห็นคนส่วนใหญ่ เช่น It is said that… (กล่าวกันว่า…), It is expected that…
- Change to Passive: “Someone stole my bike.”
- Change to Passive: “Who wrote this letter?”
- Fill in the blank: “I don’t like _______ (tell) what to do.” (Gerund)
- Change to Passive: “She lets me go home early.”
- Rewrite using ‘It is said’: “People say that he is a genius.”
.
.
- My bike was stolen. (ละ agent ได้เลยค่ะ)
- Who was this letter written by?
- I don’t like being told what to do.
- I am allowed to go home early.
- It is said that he is a genius.
